Rs.10 lakh in demonetized notes found with Balakrishna’s wife

Tirupati, December 4: Demonetized notes valued Rs.10 lakh were found in the possession of popular actor Balakrishna’s wife Vasundhara Devi but the authorities allowed her to carry the cash after she produced Income Tax documents.

Officials at Renigunta Airport near here found the cash in her bag during checkout when she arrived here from Hyderabad by a Spicejet flight. The cash was all in the scrapped notes of Rs.1,000 and Rs.500.
The officials of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) found the cash during scanning of the baggage. When enquired about this, Vasundhara showed them IT documents. She reportedly told them she brought the cash for dropping it in ‘hundi’ at Tirumala temple.
The officials went through the IT papers and let her off. Vasundhara came to the temple town with six of her family members. They later left for Tirumala by road.
Balakrishna is a leader of ruling Telugu Desam Party and a member of Andhra Pradesh assembly.
