Hyderabad, December 21: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP from Anantapur, J. C. Diwakar Reddy today said it would have been better to merge Anantapur and Kurnool districts with Telangana.
He said the two districts were badly affected due to bifurcation of the state.
The Lok Sabha member today visited Telangana state assembly and had informal chat with state finance minister E. Rajender and leader of opposition K. Jana Reddy.
Diwakar Reddy said Anantapur and Kurnool districts were being neglected in Andhra Pradesh. He said the two districts were at the mercy of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Rajender enquired if they were not getting water from Srisailam. To this, Diwakar Reddy said had the two districts been part of Telangana, they could have asked KCR to release water. “If we were denied water, we could have at least ask him whether we are not part of Telangana,” remarked Diwakar Reddy.
The former minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh had quit Congress and joined TDP to protest division of the state. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Anantapur in 2014 elections.
