Hyderabad, January 3 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union’s international dance festival will be held here from January 13 to 16.
Dance teams from several countries which includes Mongolia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Uzbekistan and India will participate in the festival.
This international dance festival is jointly organized by Prasara Bharathi and government of Telangana.
Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) is a non-profit, non-government, professional association of broadcasters in the Asia Pacific region.
Prasara Bharati represented by All India Radio and Doordarshan is ABU’s member.
It will be a grand international artistic event that will bring the best from this Asia Pacific region on to a single platform. All participating countries will run independent selection processes to send up a team for the ABU dance festival.
In order to select the finalists who will represent India, Doordarshan has planned a multi level and multi-city dance selection and showcase that will feature dance compositions in two genres- traditional and contemporary.
Those shortlisted after the initial submission will be part of Doordarshan’s dance show that will be telecast nationally. From this short listing will emerge the India team that would test itself against the best, in an international selection process. If selected by the international jury, Team India would participate in the ‘Showcase’ of the ABU TV dance festival.
This show will be telecast internationally on channels of ABU member countries and can be seen by the largest Asian audience.
Naveen Mittal, commissioner, information and public relations, government of Telangana, today chaired a meeting of organizing committee to review the arrangements for the festival.
