Telangana exempts ‘Gautamiputra Sathakarni’ from entertainment tax

Hyderabad, January 6: Telangana government has exempted Balakrishna’s movie ‘Gautamiputra Sathakarni’ from the entertainment tax.

 Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao announced this today when the Balakrishna met him at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday.

 The actor requested that ‘Gautamiputra Sathakarni’ be exempted from the tax as it happened to be a historical film. Responding to Balskrishna’s request, the Chief Minister instructed the officials concerned to issue the orders.

 KCR said that the government has decided to support and encourage films based on the noted historical personalities. In this context, he recalled the ET exemption was given to an earlier historical film Rudrama Devi. In future too, this policy will continue, the CM said.

Balakrishna thanked KCR for his generous gesture. The actor told him aid that the entire shooting of the film was completed in a record number of 78 days. Besides shooting at Kotilingala in Telangana, the film has been shot at several historically important locations in the country.  

Balakrishna also invited the Chief Minister to watch the first show of the film, which is to be released on January 12.
