Vijayawada, February 3: The Centre has allocated Rs.2,680 crore in the Union Budget for 2017-18 for Vijayawada-Guntur-Amaravati railway line.
This 106 kilometer long line will provide connectivity to upcoming Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati.
South Central Railway (SCR) officials announced today that the biggest grant in Andhra Pradesh has been made for this line.
For the first time railway budget was integrated with the union budget, which was presented in the Parliament on February 1. However, the details of the proposals made for railways were declared only today.
For railway line doubling works in SCR, the budgetary grant is Rs.436 crore as against Rs.172.6 crore for 2016-17, which is 153 percent more.
For new railway lines Rs.887 crore have been allocated as against Rs.760 crore last year, an increase of 17 percent
For infrastructure in SCR, the Centre has allocated Rs.3,034 crore against Rs.2,134 crore in the previous budget, a jump of 42 percent.
Entire Telangana is served by SCR while Andhra Pradesh is mainly served by this zone.
The allocations for new infrastructure projects, surveys and allocations for ongoing projects and safety works have increased for both the Telugu states.
For four railway crossings in both states, the railways proposed to spend Rs.19 crore.
The budget has allocated Rs.300 crore for Muneerabad-Mahabubnagar line and Rs.196 crore for Akannapet-Medak line. Rs.100 crore has been provided for third line between Manchiryal and Peddapalli
Officials said Rs.130 crore have been allocated for extending Vijayawada-Gudivada line till Machilipatnam port and Rs.36 crore four doubling Vijayawada-Tenail railway station line.
The Centre has provided Rs.100 crore for third line between Vijayawada and Kazipet and Rs.100 crore for third line between Vijayawada and Gudur.
They said Rs.122 crore allocated for doubling Vijayawada-Nidadavolu, Rs.50 crore for doubling Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar line and Rs.16 crore for extending MMTS from Ghatkesar to Yadadri.
Survey for doubling 235 km line between Bollarum and Mukund will be carried out. The budget also approved survey for new lines between Hindupuram and Chitradurga, Kondapalli and Kirandul and between Kurnool and Mantralayam.
Survey for fourth line between Kazipet and Balharshah and also between Kazipet and Vijayawada will also be conducted.
