Hyderabad, February 8: Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari will head a Sub – Committee of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) constituted by Union Ministry of Human Resource Development to look into the issues related to girls’ education.
Srihari, who hold the education portfolio, will be chairman of the four-member panel.
Assam’s finance minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma and Jharkhand’s school education minister Neera Yadav will be the members while Rina Ray, additional secretary, MHRD, will be member secretary.
The committee will examine the reasons for low participation of girls in education including the socio-economic factors with resultant gender bias, and suggest ways to reduce gender disparity.
The panel will assess the current status of girls’ enrolment across the country at primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary levels.
It will also analyze girls’ participation at all levels of school education across socio-economic groups of SC, ST, minorities and in rural-urban areas and reduce existing educational disparities.
The sub-committee will submit its report to the government within a year.
