Vijayawada, February 13: Actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has thanked Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP K. Kavitha for backing the demand for special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
“My wholehearted thanks to Nizamabad MP Sri Kavitha garu for her wholehearted support to #APspecialcategorystatus,” he tweeted today.
He said both Telangana and Andhra should show their solidarity and work together in resolving our people’s issues. “United we stand and divided we fall,” Pawan added.
Kavitha had visited Amaravati on Friday to attend National Women’s Parliament.
The daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had described as ‘just’ the demand for special category status. She also said she would join the people of Andhra Pradesh for securing it.
Kavitha advised Andhra leaders to not to compromise on the demand. “During the elections, BJP promised Special Status to AP. Venkaiah Naidu, Chandrababu Naidu and even Pawan Kalyan assured it. Now, it is their responsibility to make sure that the State gets it,” she said.
Pawan Kalyan has been targeting BJP for going back on its promise to accord special status to Andhra. He is also criticising Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for accepting special package instead of special status.
It may be recalled that during the height of Telangana movement and in 2014 elections, Pawan Kalyan and TRS leaders including KCR and Kavitha were engaged in bitter exchange of words.
