Five held for obtaining fake degree from OU

Hyderabad, February 19: Osmania University police have arrested five persons involved in obtaining degree from OU examination branch.

The arrested include three office attenders working on contract basis in examination branch of Osmania University.

The main accused is Shaik Abdullah, who is son of late Shaik Mahaboob Ali, former president of Darasgah Jihad-o-Shadat (DJS), a radical organisation. Abdullah is absconding while his brother Shaik Saifullah and others have been arrested.

Police seized Rs. 53,080 cash, fake transcripts, xerox of fake degree and seven mobile phones.

M. Kumar, Controller, examination branch, OU, had lodged a complaint on Saturday that during surprise check at Electronic Data Processing (EDP) section he found that transcripts for oShaik Abdullah are fake.

Abdullah had obtained a fake B.E. (civil engineering) degree. It shows he passed B.E. first division in1985.

Abdullah is working as an engineer in Jeddah based company. As his office had asked him to show transcripts and medium certificate on suspicion of genuineness of his certificate, he asked his brother Saifullah to obtain the same from Osmania university for any cost. He approached one Gudipati Santhosh Reddy and paid an amount of 2 lakhs. Ramesh, Ramu and Aravind who are outsourcing employees in examination branch, helped them obtain the fake transcripts without the knowledge of office staff.
