Jagan questions change in Naidu’s stand over special status

Amaravati, March 16: Andhra Pradesh Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes today as lone opposition YSR Congress party demanded an explanation from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu over change in his stand on special category status for the state.

Participating in a debate on the Governor’s address to the joint session of the state legislature, leader of opposition Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy targeted Naidu for giving up the demand.

“When Chandrababu Naidu knew the Centre is not going to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh way back in 2014, why did he send Assembly resolutions in 2015 twice demanding the status?” he asked.

He wanted to know why Naidu accepting a special package in lieu of special status.

He alleged that that it was nothing but misleading the people for his own political advantage.

Jagan dismissed Naidu’s claims about Polavaram project. “Polavaram project is not an achievement of Chandrababu Naidu but the major portion of it was completed by the then Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy,” he said.

“In fact, Chandrababu Naidu is only trying to make money out of the project by giving contracts to his henchmen Jagan alleged,” he said.
