Amaravati, March 30: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) General Secretary Nara Lokesh today took oath as the member of Andhra Pradesh state legislative council.
Council Chairman G. Chakrapani administered him oath in his chambers. Earlier, a group of ‘pundits’ blessed Lokesh, son of Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Ministers and TDP leaders including actor Balakrishna, who is Lokesh’s father-in-law, was also present.
Lokesh, who was elected to the council unopposed from MLAs quota, entered the House to warm welcome by ministers and other members.
Naidu later met Lokesh and other newly-elected members of the council and greeted them.
Other newly-elected TDP members of the council who took oath today include Karnam Balram, D. Manikya Varaprasad, B. Arjunudu, B Tech Ravi, P. Sunita and Deepak Reddy. BJP’s Madhav, PDF’s Narasimha Reddy and Srinivasula Reddy also took oath.
Lokesh is likely to be inducted into the state cabinet, which is set to be expanded in few days.
