Hyderabad, April 4: TRS leader and Member of Parliament K. Keshava Rao today had to face the ire of students at Osmania University.
The students, demanding notification for filling the vacancies in government departments, tried to prevent him from attending a meeting on the campus.
The protestors raised slogans against Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) when the party general secretary Keshava Rao reached there to attend a meeting organized by the university alumni association.
The protest led to mild tension and the police intervened to arrest the students and shifted them to Amberpet police stations.
The OU campus in recent weeks witnessed series of protest by students’ groups over the demand for job recruitments.
The organizations also joined hands with Telangana Joint Action Committee to organize a rally of the unemployed last month but it was foiled by the police.
The students’ groups, JAC and others are demanding that the TRS government fulfill its electoral promise to fill one lakh vacancies.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao had promised that after formation of separate Telangana state he will provide one lakh jobs to the youth.
