Vijayawada, April 8: Chiranjeevi has not distanced himself from the Congress party, clarified the party leaders today as his absence at an important meeting here triggered speculations.
Senior party leaders said that the megastar is busy with the films and hence not attending any meeting.
They maintained that the former union minister and Rajya Sabha member is still with the party
State Congress coordination committee meeting was held here today to discuss a host of issues. All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary incharge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh and AICC Secretary R. C. Khuntia attended the meeting.
Former union minister Pallam Raju said the meeting discussed the present condition of the party, its internal affairs, public ballot, special category status, situation created by demonetization and other issues.
He said the party discussed the matters relating to strengthening of the organization, people’s issues and the future course of action. To a query, Pallam Raju said Congress was against defections and had already written to the President in this regard.
Party’s state chief Raghuveera Reddy, former central ministers K. Krupa Rani, J. D. Seelam, Rajya Sabha member K. V. P. Ramchandra Rao, Ramachandraiah, Koppula Raju and others attended the meeting.
