Gali Muddhukrishnama Naidu is no more

Former minister and senior Telugu Desam leader, a sitting MLC, Gali Muddhukrishnama Naidu, breathed his last during the small hours of Wednesday. He died in a private hospital in Hyderabad due to multiple organ failure. The funeral will be held in his native Chittoor district, Venkataramapuram village of Ramachandrapuram mandal near Tirupati.

Born on June 9, 1947, Muddhukrishnama Naidu, is a graduate in science and has masters degree in arts and law. He was a lecturer before joining active politics in 1983 inspired by late N T Rama Rao, who launched the Telugu Desam Party. Representing Puttur Assembly constituency in Chittoor district, Muddhukrishnama Naidu won six times to the Assembly and was a Minister for Education and Forests in the NTR Cabinet.

In the 1995 August coup led by Chandrababu Naidu against NTR in Viceroy Hotel, Muddhukrishnama Naidu sided with NTR. He was one of the leaders who stayed with NTR in the coup and even after that. They remained with NTR till the latter’s death. Gali Muddhukrishnama Nadiu, Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Makineni Peda Rathaiah, P Indra Reddy, were among the few leaders who sailed with NTR and continued to hate Chandrababu Naidu for the infamous 1995 August coup.

However, after NTR’s death, Muddhukrishnama Naidu joined the Congress and sailed with the party for a couple of years. But, he could not continue in the Congress for so long due to internal squabbles he had seen in the party. While he hated the 1995 coup against NTR, he could not digest the coups enacted every day and every minute by every leader against every leader in the Congress. He soon left the Congress and returned to his old pal, Chandrababu Naidu, much against his liking.

In TDP, he soon re-established himself and became MLC, winning the confidence of his leader.
