Babu continues his backdoor battle

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu continues his backdoor battle with the BJP. While people across the 13 districts are ready to fight the battle on the streets with the Central government, the other political parties are holding meetings to gear up for the battle and prepare people to back them, Chandrababu Naidu remains indoor, making his men to talk. For the first time he came out on Saturday and spoke a few words about the injustice being done to the state. He spoke for a few minutes at a public meeting in Guntur district, where he said he would not compromise on the interests of the State. But, he was very cautious while making the statement.

BJP State president Kambhampati Haribabu had come out in open and gave about 27 pages long statement listing out the benefits given to the State in the past four years. But, neither Chandrababu Naidu nor the TDP’s AP unit president Kimidi Kalavenkata Rao, reacted to it. They allowed some of the TDP leaders and Ministers to react and counter. Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who is known for switching his loyalties and who is not sure whether he would contest the next elections on TDP ticket or the Jana Sena ticket, is seen countering the BJP, particularly targeting Kambhampati Haribabu. There are other ministers, Nakka Ananda Babu and K S Jawahar, the first timers in the Cabinet, spokesman Y V B Rajendra Prasad, general secretary Varla Ramaiah are a few who are raising their voice on behalf of the TDP.

Unfortunately none of them have succeeded in giving answers, convincing answers, to the questions raised by BJP MLC Somu Veerraju. The BJP MLC had raised two questions to both the TDP and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena, which remain unanswered. Veerraju wanted TDP to clarify how the government had spent the Rs 3500 crore given for the capital and Rs 1050 crore given to the seven backward districts. The amount released by the Centre under these two heads was to create infrastructure in Amaravati and the seven backward districts, which the TDP could not do. He wanted the government to give accounts for these two heads keeping the rest aside. But, the TDP had no answer for it as the amount given under these two heads.

Chandrababu Naidu refuses to give a statement (Utilisation Certificate) or release white paper. He says that the governments are answerable to the Assembly and Parliament and not to anyone. This statement shows how undemocratic Chandrababu Naidu is or how insecure he is. If the governments are not answerable to the people, why is he now planning to release white papers?

While stating that he would not give any statement to anyone other than the government, Chandrababu Naidu had sent a detailed note to Pawan Kalyan’s Joint Fact-finding Committee for its scrutiny. The officials from the government, have requested Pawan Kalyan not to make the statement official, released by the government. Before sending one statement to Pawan Kalyan, Chandrababu Naidu had made the officials release two statements – one countering the statement of Kambhampati Haribabu, countering point by point. The media was told to file reports basing on the statement without claiming it as released officially by the government. This is how Chandrababu Naidu fights the battles calculating political advantages for every development. Having given up the special category status for the special package, he is now speaking about the special category status and wants people to believe it.
