Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu would present the 2018-19 budget in the Assembly on Thursday morning. The final budget of this government for this term would be presented to the Assembly in the midst of the controversies surrounding the alliance between the BJP and the TDP.
A Cabinet meeting is scheduled for early in the morning to clear the budget. The two ministers from the BJP, Kamineni Srinivas and Paidikondala Manikyala Rao, would not be attending this meeting as directed by the BJP national leadership. They would be sitting in the Opposition benches on the day and their reactions too are expected to be critical on the budget.
After day-long speculations over the possible break up of alliance between the TDP and the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu took the lead to quit the Union Cabinet followed by BJP deciding to quit the AP Cabinet. However, the alliance between the two parties would continue for the time being and the TDP would decide whether to quit the NDA or not based on the response from the Prime Minister and the NDA on the demands raised by the TDP.
Meanwhile, the State budget, is set to be more welfare-oriented, though the hopes of getting Central support were ruled out. The State has to pool up its resources to meet the welfare initiatives it had proposed to make the budget voter-friendly.
