Where will former CBI JD Lakshminarayana go in politics?

Senior IPS officer V V Lakshminarayana had applied for voluntary retirement. Working in Maharastra cadre, the IPS officer hit the headlines when he was the Joint Director of the CBI and handled the cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy. He was always in the media during that period and became an icon of honesty. Even after his transfer from the CBI, he was invited by several educational institutions to give inspiring lectures to the students on honesty and against corruption.

Lakshminarayana is now seen in Andhra Pradesh as a hero of anti-corruption. Interestingly, this was how the people saw Jayaprakash Narayana left the IAS job and started Lok Satta more than a decade ago. Jayaprakash Narayana was welcomed everywhere when began to speak against corruption in public life.

After retirement, it is speculated that Lakshminarayana would join politics. There are two theories that are doing rounds minutes after he submitted his resignation. One theory says that he would join hands with Pawan Kalyan in the State politics. Pawan Kalyan has the support of Jayaprakash Narayana and former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar. Now, Lakshminarayana would be another such leader speaking about corruption-free governance.

There is another theory that is doing rounds about him. This theory says that the IAS officer would join the BJP and take over the party campaign responsibilities in Andhra Pradesh. This would be an advantage for the BJP because of his clean image, it is believed.

There are also efforts from the TDP to get him into his fold. Lakshminarayana is said to be having good relations with Chandrababu Naidu, when the latter was handling the CBI cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy. During that period Chandrababu Naidu had working relationship with the Congress, which foiled the cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy. However, Lakshminarayana may not join the TDP given his personal attitude and affiliations. In all likelihood, he might join the BJP and work for it in Andhra Pradesh.
