Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is planning for a two-day Delhi tour in April. He would be in the national capital for two days from April 2. Naidu is expected to meet the national leaders and mobilise their support for his battle against the BJP.
Chandrababu Naidu is more popular in the national politics and the media too. He is set to stay in Delhi with a delegation of the employees’ unions and some industry representatives during those days. The TDP is preparing a list of leaders to be met and Naidu is planning his statements to be made in the national capital against the BJP.
While it is speculated that Chandrababu Naidu would try to build a third alternative at the national level for the Congress and the BJP, it is unlikely that he would speak about such an arrangement. He prefers to speak about Andhra Pradesh as that would give him better footing in the State politics. He is more worried about the anti-incumbency factor in the State than the role he wants to play at the national level. He wants to consolidate his position in the State among the people as the political parties are blaming him for the injustice done in the last four years. His alliance with the BJP and his silence for the past four years is targeted by the opposition parties like the YSR Congress, Jana Sena, the CPI and the CPM. His prime target is now to counter this charge and win the confidence of the people for all his efforts to develop the State.
Naidu may not show any interest in building a national alternative to the Congress and the BJP at this point of time. West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief, Mamata Benerji is expecting such a move from Chandrababu Naidu than the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. There are some other non-Congress and non-BJP parties which find Chandrababu Naidu as better option to build a third national alternative than Chandasekhar Rao. However, the TDP chief many not prefer this role at this point of time as any attempt by him on this would further weaken his base in the State.
The TDP is carefully scripting his speeches and his itinerary in the national capital. He is planning to speak only about the State as that would build a better image for him back home in the State.
