The political landscape is changing rapidly in Andhra Pradesh. Till as recent as few weeks back TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu was of the opinion that the 2019 elections will be a cake walk for TDP. But the recent differences with Janasena Party causing sleep less nights to TDP leadership. Chandra babu thought that Pawan will be his trump card in 2019 elections as it has happened in 2014. But the U turn taken by Pawan Kalyan is a sudden surprise to him and now he is caught between Devil and the Deep sea.
Effect of Pawan
It is widely believed that the majority of people belong to Pawan Kalyan’s community (Kapu) are going to be associated with him. Even though Naidu has been trying very hard to pamper Kapu community with various sops, majority of the community still feels that they are just eye wash and are very sceptical about Naidu’s commitment towards them. For example even though the resolution for the 5% reservation to Kapu community has been approved by AP assembly and sent to Central government, nothing has happened on that front till now. And the recent differences with Pawan Kalyan is only making the situation further difficult for Naidu. Pawan effect is very evident in the Godavari districts.
TDP leaders into Janasena
The exodus has already started even though the elections are still an year away. Many leaders are bidding goodbye to TDP. The brother of KothaPeta Ex MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao has already joined Janasena. Now the TDP president for the Kakinada city Nunna Dorababu has announced that he is joining Janasena.
Same thing happened during the time of Praja Rajyam
Now it is very evident that majority of the leaders belong to Kapu community in Godavari districts are moving towards Janasena. Same thing happened when Praja Rajyam party was announced in 2009. Important leaders like District President of East Godavari Jyotula Nehru had left TDP to join Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam. Also prominent TDP leaders like Vanga Geetha, and Thota Trimurthulu joined Praja Rajyam. Even though many leaders went back to TDP after Praja Rajyam’s debacle, they are once again looking at Janasena party right now. Even though TDP leadership is very alert of the situation, it looks like it is not in a position to stop the exodus. Next few months should bring more clarity to the situation once Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan announces his political action plan. It remains to be seen Naidu’s game plan to prevent or mitigate the damage.
