The TDP, which is blamed for being silent on the Special Category Status and joining the movement very late, is now all out to get the better mileage by going to the people. The party had intensified its fight in the both the Houses of Parliament on Thursday. Two of its MPs fainted after the hours long protest in the well of Rajya Sabha and in the Central Hall of Parliament.
Friday being the last day of the Parliament, if the session is not postponed, the TDP leaders want to intensify the protest both in the Parliament and back home in the State. The TDP MLAs are going by cycles to the Assembly from Venkatapalem, four km away from the Assembly Hall in Velagapudi. The party chief had already asked the rank and file of the party to take out protest rallies across the State in support of the MPs, who have been ‘fighting relentless’ for the State in Delhi.
Having done so, the TDP chief wants to hold yet another round of all-party meeting on Saturday at Velagapudi. This time, he is planning to send his Ministers to YSR Congress, Jana Sena and BJP to invite them for the all-party meeting. It is left for these parties to decide whether to attend the meeting or continue to boycott it.
Chandrababu Naidu, after the break up with the BJP wants to take the entire credit of fighting for the Special Category Status. As the SCS had become the sentimental issue of the people, he wants to champion it and get the better mileage, pushing the YSR Congress or the Left and Jana Sena aside. He is not ready to give any credit to the YSR Congress, though the party had been keeping the issue alive for the past four years, even after Chandrababu Naidu compromised with the BJP in giving up the SCS demand.
The TDP chief is also planning to hit at the BJP with facts and figures in the Assembly once again. While informing the House about his Delhi visit, Chandrababu Naidu is all set to use the Assembly to tell people how BJP had betrayed him and the State in the last four years. This time, he is set to go tough so as to win the confidence of the people who are dejected and disgusted with the denial of the special category status to the State.
It is to be seen how far Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP would succeed in taking the total credit for the issue, isolating the YSR Congress.
