Jagan should have spared the three aged MPs from fast

YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy looked ahead of his rival when he announced resignation of his MPs, serving of no confidence motion against the NDA government and the indefinite hunger strike by the party MPs in support of the Special Category Status demand. But, where he missed was inclusion of three elder MPs in the indefinite hunger strike. He should have excluded them on the grounds like their age and their health position.

Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Y V Subba Reddy and V Varaprasada Rao are on medication and it was not proper to make them sit on hunger strike. There are two young MPs in his team, Avinash Reddy and Mithun Reddy, who can sit in the hunger strike and continue to be on for a week, given their age and health. Rajamohan Reddy had to be pulled out of the hunger strike camp in less than 24 hours on health ground and that exposes the seriousness of the hunger strike decision. The two MPs, Subba Reddy and Varaprasada Rao would also have to be pulled out may be in the next 24 hours making the entire indefinite fast a farce. Jagan Mohan Reddy should have been more practical in planning his demonstrations or be strategic in his strategies.

Even now, after Rajamohan Reddy was pulled out of the hunger strike camp, Jagan Mohan Reddy is sending his aged mother to the national capital and to be in the hunger strike camp. She may not sit in the fast, but sending her now is of not much use. Instead, Jagan Mohan Reddy should have sent his sister, Sharmila, who, with her fluency in English, could have won the national media for him. Or he could have given a break to his padayatra here and gone to Delhi. That would have helped him to get into the national media.

Jagan Mohan Reddy required drawing the attention of the national media at least to counter what Chandrababu Naidu had said about him in Delhi last week. Also he requires drawing the attention of the nation towards the indefinite hunger strike by the MPs and their resignation in support of his demand for the special category status. He needs to prove that he has been fighting for the cause for the past four years unlike Chandrababu Naidu who took up the issue only a month ago. He should also tell the nation, as Naidu tells, that TDP had suppressed the movement in the last four years.

If Jagan Mohan Reddy stays away from the scene where his presence is required, fails to take the right decision at the right time, he would remain unsuccessful leader in the politics. Politics is all about making a right statement at the right time and certainly not making a right statement at the wrong time.
