TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is getting ready for the battle. In this regard he announced the party action plan much ahead of the polls. Chandrababu predicted that BJP will not come to power again at the Centre. He made the important comment during the meeting of Telugu Desam party’s coordination committee. Chandrababu asserted that till recently everyone thought there is nobody who can stand up to BJP but considering the present situation it’s difficult for BJP to come back to power.
Chandrababu feels that the attitude of the BJP leadership has brought the party to this situation. He said that power should increase the humility but this has added to the arrogance of BJP leaders. He also claimed that after Karnataka election results, the central government will try to target Andhra Pradesh government and for this all TDP leaders should be prepared. He asked the TDP leaders to make people aware of not just the special status issue but also about the development which took place during last four years and which is currently taking place in the state. Chandrababu said following Katuha and Unnao incidents BJP lost its halo across the country and it will be difficult for the party to win the next elections.
The TDP chief expressed his opinion that the state will suffer with shutdowns and rasta roko. He voiced concern that Monday’s bandh caused Rs.12 crore loss to RTC. He said closure of shops for one day caused loss to thousands of people. He advised leaders of all parties that their protest programmes should be such that the state and people should not suffer any loss. He suggested that all TDP leaders should remain amidst people for the whole year and take development and welfare programmes to people.
He reminded that the TDP is also fighting for special status and for the commitments made at the time of state’s bifurcation. He said he would be observing day-long fast at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada on April 20 and asked MLAs and party incharges in all constituencies to observe the fast to show their solidarity. He also called upon the ministers to go on hunger strike in their respective districts. He decided that Dalit Tejam concluding meeting scheduled to be held on April 20 will be organized in May first week. The chief minister said cycle yatras will begin in all constituencies on April 21 and after 60-day long yatras big public meetings would be organized in the constituencies. Chandrababu also decided that the public meeting scheduled to be held at Tirupati on April 30 should be confined to that district. Similarly, the programme to sanction pensions for all eligible citizens will be speeded up. He ordered the cabinet sub-committee to frame guidelines for paying allowance to unemployed youth. Babu directed that Anna canteens should be started across the state on June 2. He decided in the meeting that while continuing the fight against the Centre, the state will implement welfare programmes. It was also decided to organize mini mahanadus in all 175 constituencies next month.
