Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddi Sridhar Reddy dared the State police to prove charges of cricket betting against him. The State police have framed charges against the YSR Congress MLA accusing him of having involvement in the cricket betting in the State. The police also claimed having evidence to prove the charges against the MLA.
The police said that the MLA had met the cricket betting team members, punters, in Vijayawada and Kadapa and even have the CCTV footage. The police said that the MLA had met the key member of the betting team, Krishna Singh, in a hotel in Vijayawada and in the Roads and Buildings guest house in Kadapa.
Reacting to these charges, the legislator dared the police to prove the charges. He wanted the police to reveal the video footage if they have to prove the charges. He said he had never involved in the cricket betting or any other unlawful activities and dared the police to prove it.
It is to be seen if the police will take the lead and prove the charges against the MLA. It is not first time for the State police to point an accusing finger at the Opposition YSR Congress in the last four years. The police blamed the YSR Congress when there was some fire accident in the capital villages. Four years have gone, but not a single case was proved in the incident.
Later, when there was violence at Tuni in the Kapu meeting, the police and the government pointed an accusing finger at the YSR Congress. Three years have gone but the police could not establish the case and find the accused.
The YSR Congress leaders accuse the state government and the police of being biased to the Opposition favouring the ruling TDP. The charges against the Nellore rural MLA in the cricket betting case too is seen in the similar lines. Sridhar Reddy had asked the police to prove the charges for which the police is yet to act.
