Puri ‘Mehbooba’ short & sweet review

Senior director Puri Jagannadh is in the forefront among the Tollywood directors who are hungry for hits. Puri had no hits to his credit after ‘Temper’. After ‘Temper’ all his movies like ‘Jyothi Lakshmi’, ‘Loafer’, ‘Ism’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘Paisa Vasool’ proved disaster.

Because of this, big heroes were not ready to give appointment to Puri. That’s why to prove himself, Puri made a film ‘Mehbooba’ on a grand scale with his son Akash. Puri has made this film differently in the context of Indo-Pak border.

So how is the movie which has already completed premier in America? Let us see in Telugupost.com review.

After a long gap Puri has come before the audience with a different script and a beautiful love story. In this love story shot in the backdrop of Indo-Pak war, hero Akash has acted superbly. Newcomer Neha Shetty’s acting is also wonderful. The film has good twists too.

The highlight of the movie are dialogues with Puri mark. First half runs slow. Several scenes in the movie are not related to it. Had they cut them in editing there would have been no damage to the movie. In this Indo-Pak love story, the scenes and screenplay by the director are excellent.

The film is based on rebirth. It has good war scenes. However, since the movie has serious context, it missed on comedy. While first half is simple, the second half has good grip. Sandeep Chowta’s background music and emotional scenes connect well with the audience.

Plus points:
-Lead pair

Minus points:
-Missing entertainment
-Lags here and there

As mass movie with Puri mark, ‘Mehbooba’ has not lived up to the expectations. It remains to be seen how Telugu audience react to the movie. Overall, we have to wait and see how ‘Mehbooba’ records the box office collections at a time when Telugu audience are gripped by ‘Mahanati’ mania.
