Two days after launching his padayatra in Srikakulam district, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan seems to have intensified his criticism on Telugu Desam Party supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Taking strong objections to the TDP’s comments against him on his political experience and his strength, Pawan Kalyan wondered whether the TDP and its chief were not aware of his strength and experience when Chandrababu Naidu visited his house seeking his support in the 2014 elections.
“He (Chandrababu) had visited my house and sought my support. I did not visit him. Was he not aware of my experience in politics then? He claims to be the senior most politician in the country with 40 years of experience. If that is so, why did he visit my house and sought my support,” the Jana Sena chief asked amidst whistles from his supporters.
The TDP chief is ridiculing Jana Sena as a new party and its chief Pawan Kalyan as an inexperienced person. The TDP is targeting Pawan Kalyan at the same length as it is targeting Jaganmohan Reddy. Interestingly, both Jaganmohan Reddy and Pawan Kalyan are in the midst of the people by taking up padayatras, while Chandrababu Naidu, enjoying the power, travels by chartered aircrafts or confines himself to the review meetings.
Going back to the 2014 elections, Pawan Kalyan, who had floated the Jana Sena, had announced his support to the BJP and Narendra Modi as the prime minister candidate. He did not announce his support to the TDP by then. Sensing some trouble, Chandrababu Naidu went all the way to Pawan Kalyan’s residence in Hyderabad and waited for one hour to meet Pawan Kalyan and seek his support. It was only after this meeting the Jana Sena chief sought votes for the TDP too.
Chandrababu Naidu jockeyed on the image of Narendra Modi and Pawan Kalyan in the 2014 elections, besides the popularity he enjoyed among the youth who were not aware of the facts behind Hyderabad having the software companies over the years. The TDP had pressed into service a large number of vehicles from Hyderabad to various destinations in the State for the software and other employees to go back to their native and cast their vote. This was in addition to the entire community rallying for Chandrababu Naidu. That was the intensity of the TDP and the community that worked together to bring Babu back. With all these factors, the TDP had won the election with just 5 lakh votes margin over the YSR Congress.
If Chandrababu Naidu claims that people have voted for him recognising his seniority, the Jana Sena and YSR Congress are not ready to buy those. They are now briefing people how the TDP had won the last election and if it works, it is how Chandrababu Naidu is going to be defeated in the next elections.
