TDP justifies Naidu attending Kumaraswamy swearing-in

Amid speculations of the Telugu Desam Party having an electoral alliance with the Congress in the two Telugu States, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his party leaders clarified that the TDP chief’s presence in Karnataka Chief Minsiter’s swearing-in was in favour of the Janata Dal (Secular) and had nothing to do with the Congress. When the news about Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Janta Dal (Secular) and Congress combine government, the TDP leaders were caught by the media and the party cadre on the possibility of the TDP having alliance with the Congress. Perhaps this would be the first time that Chandrababu Naidu would be sharing the dais with Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

The TDP leaders, who were busy in the Dharma Porata Deeksha in Visakhapatnam the other day, had to speak justifying Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to attend the Bengaluru’s swearing-in. Ministers Kalavenkata Rao, Kalva Srinivasulu and Nara Lokesh said that the TDP had invitation from the JD(S) and Chandrababu Naidu would be going there only to greet Kumaraswamy on the occasion, which will take time for the people to believe him as he would be seen along with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, with the Congress having major share in the Karnataka Cabinet.

Interesting part of it is Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao, who made several attempts to build a third front in the country, will skip the swearing-in ceremony as he had already greeted the Chief Minister-nominee 24 hours ahead of the swearing-in. Though Chief Ministers like Mamata Benerji are set to attend the swearing-in, Chandrasekhar Rao preferred to be away from the dais as he felt it would be uncomfortable for him to see Sonia Gandhi on the dais. Chandrasekhar Rao’s mission of creating Telangana became a reality only after he had promised to merge his Telangana Rastra Samithi with the Congress once the State is created. He had even personally made this promise on which Sonia Gandhi took the risk of dividing the State. Once the State was divided, KCR went back on his promise betraying Sonia Gandhi. It is for this reason, KCR is avoiding meeting with Sonia Gandhi.

KCR is also not ready to share the dais with Chandrababu Naidu, as he fears that the AP Chief Minister would hijack his efforts of creating the third front. Leaders like Mamata Benerji, Sharad Pawar and Akhilesh Yadav prefers Chandrababu Naidu to Chandrasekhar Rao to start the third front. Mamata Benerji is attending the swearing-in and is likely to have a word with Chandrababu Naidu while Chandrasekhar Rao would be left alone on the dais. Dreaming himself of being a game changer, the Telangana Chief Minister does not want to be present where Chandrababu Naidu gets better mileage than himself and it is for these reasons the TRS chief had visited Kumaraswamy one day before the swearing-in.
