Beaten on both sides, Naidu finds things going tough

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is finding things tough for him these days. He feels attacked from both sides of his face by YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy on one side and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on the other. The Bharatiya Janata Party is now getting ready to hit him on one more side of his face.

Jaganmohan Reddy had hit Chandrababu Naidu hard by promising several sops to the aqua farmers during his Praja Sankalpa Yatra in the Kolleru Lake area of Krishna and West Godavari districts. His promise of bringing down the electricity charges went well with the aqua farmers and the families associated with the aqua culture. A delegation of the aqua farmers and the allied sectors met Jaganmohan Reddy and briefed him their problems. Having listened to them for two hours, the YSR Congress chief had addressed two issues – slash in power tariff and due share of water for aqua ponds. There was jubilation among them giving an edge to the YSR Congress for the next round of elections.

Caught off guard, Chandrababu Naidu had convened a meeting with the officials and the aqua farmers and had announced power tariff subsidy for them, besides others. The aqua farmers are aware of the fact that Chandrababu Naidu had to give this subsidy only after Jaganmohan Reddy had promised them the same. It is to be seen how they would take Naidu’s benefit that came after Jaganmohan Reddy’s initiative.

There is another leader, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, who is hitting Chandrababu Naidu on the other side of the face. Pawan, who is currently touring in the Uttarandhra, is raising his voice for the mysterious kidney disease victims. He was on a two-day fast for their cause where he highlighted the failure of the government in providing health care for the victims. This had gone well among the people of Uttarandhra districts who are looking at the Jana Sena chief for their issues.

Chandrababu Naidu had to respond to this issue too. He had convened a meeting of the officials of the health department and reviewed the situation. He had also set a target of Rs 17 crore to open 7 new dialysis centers for the kidney patients. This was a welcome initiative from the government and that had come only after Pawan Kalyan’s demand.

Being hit on both sides by Jagan and Pawan, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is finding things going tough for him. It is to be seen how he would handle the situation once the BJP gets into action with its new chief Kanna Lakshminarayana set to challenge the TDP.
