Former chief secretary I Y R Krishna Rao looks as if he is moving towards the Bharatiya Janata Party. This opinion has its base for his speech at a meeting in Guntur the other day, where he had all praise for the BJP government at the Centre in implementing the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.
Krishna Rao, who had been hitting hard at the ruling Telugu Desam Party government for the past two years, was expected to join the Opposition YSR Congress. In fact, he was more available for the YSR Congress party’s Sakshi media group than the other media houses. He went hard against the TDP government on Amaravati and had even penned a bi-lingual book. He also found several plans of the State government wrong and left no chance to hit at the Chief Minister.
His criticism has several issues, including the functioning of the Chief Minister’s Office, the senior bureaucrats in the government and the administrative polices of the government.
In his latest attack on the government, which he said had failed to utilise the helping hand of the Central government in the last four years, Krishna Rao held the BJP government high in implementing the Reorganisation Act and extending benefits to the State. He said that the Central government had implemented the welfare schemes to the state in a phased manner.
Even on the special category status, the former chief secretary said that the BJP government had offered special package which was equal to that of the special category status. The benefits offered through the special package were similar to that are expected from the special category status, according to him.
These remarks by him are giving scope for the political analysts to smell if he is moving close to the BJP, ahead of the elections. If that happens, it would certainly be a gain for the BJP in the State. It is to be seen what he decides as elections are fast approaching.
