Naidu sets a defence tone for the party

Telugu Desam Party supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had set defence tone for the rank and file of the party to counter the Opposition parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party on the developmental issues. He had addressed the extended executive committee meeting of the party in Amaravati yesterday where he had told the leaders to go aggressively against the critics claiming that they have done more in the last four years than what they have promised during the last elections.

“Tell them (Opposition) aggressively that what was promised during elections is fulfilled in the last four years and what was not promised was also done in the last four years. We have taken care of every section of the people. We have started this government with minus revenue and minus infrastructure. Now we are placed better… better than several other states. Getting first rank in Ease of Doing Business is not a simple thing. It brings more investment to the State. Tell the people how we have been performing ahead of other States,” Chandrababu Naidu told the party leaders.

Naidu is focusing on the welfare – more on attractive – programmes to win sections of the people. He is focusing on the groups like village revenue assistants, anganwadi teachers and workers, members of the self-help groups, the contract workers and so on. These sections constitute a good number of vote bank and the TDP chief is now looking at dolling out more sops for every section, starting from wage hike to giving them android mobiles. He is trying to integrate these groups and has already started holding teleconferences with them explaining how well he had developed the State in the last four years.

He wants these sections to be his poll agents when the bell rings. While the members of the Janma Bhoomi committees will be the key agents of his party during the elections, the TDP chief plans to use these groups to mobilise votes for him. At every meeting of these groups, he goes on telling how he had developed the State in the last four years and how he is being victimised by the BJP on one side and the YSR Congress and Jana Sena on the other. He is expecting sympathy from these groups to work in his favour.

But the big question is will these groups really help him working as TDP agents in the elections or will they go as per their own decisions.
