Former IPS officer V V Lakshminarayana, who is popular for his stint as joint director of the CBI for south, is likely to meet Chief Minister Chandrabahu Naidu in Amaravati shortly and represent the issues of the farmers. He had told the group of farmers in Kurnool the other day that he would meet the Chief Minister and draw his attention to the problems of the farmers. He further said he would design his future course of action to represent the problems of the farmers.
Lakshminarayana, ever since he took voluntary retirement had been focusing on the farmers’ issues. His first meeting in Guntur district was with the farmers and since then, he had been addressing the groups of farmers wherever he visited. He visited the backward Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts in his first leg of tour after his Guntur meeting. Later, he was found in Prakasam and Nellore districts. Now, he is touring the Kurnool district meeting the farmers.
While asserting that he would represent only the farmers’ issues, he had made his mind clear on his political intentions. He wants to be a minister representing the agriculture sector for which he is exploring different options.
At one point of time, it was widely speculated that Lakshminarayana would join the Bharatiya Janata Party and would be its Chief Minister candidate here, while Narendra Modi would be the Prime Minister candidate at the Centre for the second term. In fact, BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana, at one point of time, admitted that he would leave the decision of choosing a chief minister candidate for the party in Andhra Pradesh to the high command.
There was also speculation that Lakshminarayana would join Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena and would be its Ministerial candidate if the party formed the government either on its own or in alliance with any party.
However, Lakshminarayana is keeping his cards close to his chest, not revealing what he is intending to do for political power. As of now, he says his priority is to highlight the problems of the farmers and represent their issues. It is said that he is also planning for a massive protest of the farmers on the lines of the farmers in Maharastra. If that happens, it is for sure, Lakshminarayana would be a force to reckon with in the State politics ahead of the elections.
