Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had stuck a surprise by announcing that he is ready to donate his organs, to promote the organ donation campaign in the State.
Chandrababu Naidu made his announcement while handing over the organ donation certificates to several volunteers at his camp office. The Jeevan Daan of the NTR University of Health Sciences had collected 1.20 lakh pledges for organ donation. While congratulating the volunteers for the pledge, the Chief Minister said that the government would also incorporate a lesson in the schools to promote organ donations in the State. He further said that the government was also looking into the proposal of introducing the organ donation column in the driving licence.
India Book of Records representative Rakesh Varma said that the incident would be recorded in India Book of Records. The NSS volunteers and NTR Health University officials also took part the organ donation campaign. Under the Jeevan Daan programme the NTR University of Health Sciences had promoted organ donations during the last four years. The organs of the brain dead patients were collected with the consent of the family members and donated to others giving new life.
In majority cases where the fatal accidents are reported, the NTR University of Health Sciences in coordination with the police department and the State government is promoting the donations. Now with the Chief Minister announcing his preparedness to donate his organs, the message went down well inspiring the youth and others. People are coming forward to give pledges of donating their organs, which would be a critical benefit for the people in need of organs.
