YSRCP chief Jagan’s Praja Sankalp yatra will reach Visakhapatnam in next few days. Currently the yatra is passing through East Godavari district. For another week, the yatra will continue in East Godavari district. Jagan’s padyatra will enter Visakhapatnam district on 13th of this month. Now that Jagan is about to enter North Andhra, senior leaders are busy making the arrangements.
YSRCP had bitter experience in Visakhapatnam district in the previous elections. Jagan’s mother Vijayamma contested for Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam constituency but lost the election. It did not get the expected seats. That’s why during last four years Jagan specially focused on north coastal Andhra. He participated in protests on many occasions. He also staged dharna on Visakhapatnam land scam. Jagan had another bitter experience in Visakhapatnam district. Senior leaders lke Konathala Ramakrishna, Sabbam Hari and Dadi Veerabhadra Rao quit the party. In this context, Jagan’s Visakhapatnam district assumed significance.
Party’s senior leaders Botsa Satyanarayana and Vijay Sai Reddy have been given the responsibility to make the padyatra a success in Visakhapatnam district. Rajya Sabha member Vijay Sai Reddy has been working to strengthen the party in Visakhapatnam for some time. He is spending most of his time in Visakhapatnam. He also conducted a padyatra in Visakhapatnam city recently. He visited every ward and inquired from people about their problems. Since senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana also hails from North Andhra, he is laying special focus on the region.
YSRCP leaders say that like in other districts leaders from other parties will join their party. It is learnt that Botsa Satyanarayana is holding talks with some leaders. Visakhapatnam railway zone is a key issue. Jagan will have to respond on this. Similarly there have been many irregularities in poor people’s lands in Visakhapatnam. There have been allegations that TDP leaders have their hands in this. The state government got the issue investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The report has not been released. Jagan will lash out at TDP leaders for land scams of TDP leaders. Overall, there is suspense on who will join the party during Jagan’s padyatra.
