Congress president and its prime minister candidate for the 2019, Rahul Gandhi, held a couple of meetings with the select group of people in Hyderabad during his visit, besides the party leaders. He met the journalists and industrialists.
What he said with the journalists was shared in the media, but what he spoke with the industrialists is not known but for a few leaks. Choosing to meet journalists was a clear indication of winning the media attention for his electoral battle ahead. His meeting with the industrialists too was a well calculated move from his side.
But, the big question is the presence of industrialist Nara Brahmani at the meeting with Rahul Gandhi. Brahmani is not just an industrialist to meet the Congress president. She is the daughter-in-law of Telugu Desam Party chief and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. She is the wife of Telugu Desam Party Minister Nara Lokesh. She is the daughter of Telugu Desam Party legislator Nandamuri Balakrishna. She comes from the anti-Congress family. She comes from the TDP’s founder’s family. She cannot be treated just as an industrialist in this case.
Her meeting with Rahul Gandhi comes close on the heels of Chandrababu Naidu trying for alliance with the Congress in the next elections. Interestingly, the Congress president too is looking forward to an electoral understanding with Chandrababu Naidu. The Congress president believes that Chandrababu Naidu will play key role at the national level when it comes to deciding the next prime minister. Chandrababu Naidu too claims that he would play the key role in deciding the next prime minister and as of now he is against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In this background, Nara Brahmani attends Rahul Gandhi’s meeting and this attendance is a clear indication of what Chandrababu Naidu plans for the next round of elections. The meeting also reiterates that there are no permanent enemies and friends in politics and the politics is just a number game and the equations keep changing where the number is on the higher side. So, both Chandrababu Naidu and Rahul tilt towards the greater numbers and Brahmani’s meeting with Rahul Gandhi is a clear signal to the impending political developments both in the Telugu States in particular and the country in general.
