The Telugu Desam Party had decided to go with the Congress in the next elections in Telangana. Party chief Chandrababu Naidu had given clearance to the TDP Telangana leadership to have talks with the Congress on the alliance.
According to the information available, the TDP was offered 25 Assembly and 2 Parliament seats in the State. Talks are held between the two parties to finalise the alliance. Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu is visiting Hyderabad on September 8, where he is likely to address the party leaders. He had given indications to the Telangana leaders to go ahead with the alliance and improve the party position.
Meanwhile, the Congress leaders are planning to bring AICC former president Sonia Gandhi to address a public meeting in the State in the next one week. The leaders are waiting for Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao to announce the Assembly dissolution, which is likely to come on Thursday.
While the Telangana Rastra Samithi is already dissolved the Assembly and going for the early polls, a senior leader and Rajya Sabha member, D Srinivas is said to be thinking of coming back home before the Assembly elections. It is said that his followers were pressuring Srinivas to quit the TRS and come back to the Congress.
A section of leaders said that Srinivas may return to the Congress on September 13. They said he had been in touch with Congress senior leaders in New Delhi over the last few days. If all political equations are in his favour, Srinivas may head back to the Congress on September 13. Both the Congress and the TRS are eagerly awaiting Srinivas’ decision.
He said changing his political party and other issues were his personal decisions and added that he would not disclose anything to the media. A few Congress leaders said that Srinivas may join the BJP to support his son and Nizamabad Parliamentary constituency ticket aspirant D.Arvind. “It is better for him to work with the BJP as Srinivas is vexed with the Congress and TRS leaderships so far,” a party leader from this section of groups said.
TRS leaders from Nizamabad led by party MP K Kavitha have asked TRS president and Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao for action on Srinivas for alleged anti-party moves.
