Naidu puts MLAs into poll mode

Telugu Desam Party national president and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had put the party MLAs into election mode. As the monsoon session of the Assembly concluded, Chandrababu Naidu had directed the party MLAs to go to their respective Assembly constituencies and campaign for the party.

He had given three points for the party leaders to campaign in the villages. He wanted them to explain the government programmes to the people in the first phase. He had listed out the number of programmes that were introduced and being implemented by the government and told the MLAs to campaign on these programmes thus taking the government to the door steps of the people.

The second point that he had asked the party legislators to talk about was on the YSR Congress party’s collusion with the Bharatya Janata Party. He told the legislators to explain in detail how the YSR Congress party is conspiring against the TDP and the State government. He told them to expose the secret understanding of the YSR Congress with the BJP and see that the people begin to hate the YSR Congress too along with the BJP.

The third point was to build negative image for BJP and Narendra Modi among the people for denial of the special category status. He told the MLAs to project the TDP as the champion of the special category status. He claimed that the TDP had been fighting for the special category status while the other parties have given up or gone back. He wanted the MLAs, keeping aside their differences, to work to build the SCS image for the party at the grassroots level.

Chandrababu Naidu wanted every MLA to be present in their constituency and keep meeting people every day. He directed them to visit every village of their constituency in the next two to three months campaigning on these three issues.

It is to be seen how far these legislators, several of them looking at other parties for ticket, will follow what was told to them by the party chief.
