The State government had set the schedule to inaugurate the irrigation projects in the next few months. A number of 27 irrigation projects are ready for the inauguration, one after the other, besides working on the Polavaram Project. The government had set 24 months schedule for the Polavaram project to be completed.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, at a review meeting with the officials of the Water Resources Department, said that the state government gave top priority for irrigation projects and started inauguration of 57 irrigation projects. He said Pedapalem, Pulichintala, Gandikota reservoir scheme were ready for inauguration.
In Prakasam district Gundlakamma will be inaugurated soon. He said several projects which were completed on priority basis and inaugurated include Purushotapatnam lift, Anicut on sarada river, Pogonda reservoir, Modernisation of Yerrakaluva, Kandaleru lift canal scheme, Gandikota CBR lift, Muchumarri lift, Siddapuram lift, SH 31 road works, Palakurthi Gururaghavendra lift, Chinasana lift,Kondavaveeti vagu lift scheme, Gorukallu balancing reservoir, avuku tunnel, Pulikanuma lift scheme.
The Chief Minister said that 27 projects which are in progress will be completed by June next year.
The water resources department prepared a schedule for inauguration of several projects. As per the schedule the Gandikota and Nellore barrage will be inaugurated on October 15, Sangam barrage on November 30, Vamsadhara Nagavali, Vamsadhara Pase 2, by December end, Mallemadugu, Balaji, venugopalasagar reservoir, Somasila-swarnamukhi, Yerram chinapoli Reddy Korisapadu lift , Mahendratanaya reservoir scheme by December, Veligonda tunnel-I by January 15 and tunnel II by May ending.
