The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is trying to make its presence felt in the Telangana elections is pinning all its hopes on the visit of the party chief Amit Shah to Karimnagar today.
The BJP leaders are struggling hard to find candidates for the 119 Assembly constituencies. It is finding itself uncomfortable as there are no candidates even in the twin cities where it claims to be strong. Being the ruling party at the Centre and riding on the Modi-Shah combination, the BJP is struggling hard to find winning candidates.
However, the party feels that it would be able to find some winning horses on its side with Amit Shah’s visit today. The party is knocking at the doors of the top bureaucrats and professors of various universities promising them ticket and funds too. The BJP is currently focusing on Karimnagar and Warangal districts besides the twin cities.
Meanwhile, the BJP leadership is also exploring the possibility of roping in popular swamiji, Paripoornananda, for the electioneering in the State. Though the swamiji hails from Andhra Pradesh, Kakinada to be precise, he enjoys considerable mass following in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad. He had become popular recently for his hate speech against film critic, Kathi Mahesh, had the credit of being exorcised by the Hyderabad police.
On his return to the Telangana’s capital, the swamiji had greater support from the RSS and VHP which have also mobilised public support for him in the name of religion. Taking advantage of the following that he enjoys, the BJP is seriously giving a thought to get him campaigned for the party.
It is to be seen how these tricks help the BJP win at least on par with the MIM if not the TRS in the impending elections.
