Varun Tej, who gathered pace with ‘Fida’, scored a hit with ‘Tholi Prema’. Working in movies on and off, he will be coming before audience with ‘Antariksham’ in December. His another movie ‘F2-Fun and Frustration’ is scheduled to be released on Sankranti. With two more movies in the pipeline, Varun Tej is on a high. Moving ahead as the medium hero, Varun Tej is now said to be eyeing the role of anti-hero. These days, several heroes not just in Tollywood but also in Kollywood have been accepting characters with negative shades.
Star heroes are also not hesitating to do roles with negative shades. It is known how Junior NTR impressed with such a character in ‘Jai Lava Kush’. In recent days, actors like Madhavan, Aadi Penisetti and Rana played villain’s role. If Varun too is keen to be seen in such a role, there should be something special about it. Since Varun got such a role, he is ready to play villain. Tamil movie ‘Jigarthanda’ was a blockbuster hit and it won the appreciation from critics. In this movie Siddharh played the hero while Bobby Simha acted as the villain. However, more than hero Siddharth, it was Bobby Simha who earned a big name in villain’s role.
It is said that efforts have begun to remake ‘Jigarthanda’ in Telugu. For this Telugu remake, hero’s role will be further reduced while villain’s role will be hyped further. While anybody may be selected as hero, Varun will be selected for villain’s role. Dil Raju has the rights of this film. It remains to be seen whom he picks up as the hero but it is said that Varun will be the villain. Varun is said to have preferred villain’s role because it has more importance than the role of hero. We are yet to have clarity on how far this is correct.
