It looks like CBI former joint director V V Lakshminarayana is in the trap of former bureaucrat and Lok Satta founder Jayaprakash Narayana. Though Lakshminarayana had the plans to float his own political outfit and had named it Jana Dhwani, he is now said to be having second thoughts, by welcoming Jayaprakash Narayana’s offer to take over his Lok Satta party.
While Jayaprakash Narayana is seen as an asset and an intellectual, but his Lok Satta had failed and never reached to the people ever since it was started more than a decade ago. The party had just one legislator in its history and that was none but its founder Jayaprakash Narayana. He too won from TDP-dominated Kukatpalli area of Hyderabad. His party did not go well with the voters elsewhere, despite the youth having a liking for the party and its leader.
Now, the youth favours Lakshminarayana and are with him in large numbers. When he announced that he would be joining politics, the youth wanted him to have his own party and he had gone too far to launch his own one. It was initially said that he would announce the party on November 26 at his Hyderabad meeting. But, things took different turn with Jayaprakash Narayana walking into the meeting and offering his Lok Satta party to him. This offer had made Lakshminarayana to defer his announcement on new party.
Speculation is high that Lakshminarayana was advised by some think-tanks in the State to carry Jayaparakash Narayana along to win the youth and people. There are also pressures on this former IPS officer to work together with Jayaprakash Narayana, who enjoys some support in the leading Telugu media houses. It is for this reason Lakshminarayana had postponed his decision to name his party. This deferring the announcement is seen as a trap by a section of intellectuals who are close to Chandrababu Naidu. It is to be seen how Lakshminarayana scripts his own political career in the days to come.
