The Telangana Congress working president and Congress candidate from Kodangal A Revanth Reddy, was detained early today accusing him of trying to obstruct a public meeting of TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Revanth’s wife Geetha said, “Around 3 am some people broke open their door and forced themselves in.”
With less than two days for campaigning to end, Revanth Reddy has reportedly been shifted to Jadcherla, around 90 km from Kodangal.
In a notice to the Congress party, the state election commission said, on December 2, a protest call was given by Revanth to stop KCR’s campaign rally in Kodangal on December 4.
The election commission said a law and order situation could arise as Revanth’s supporters may try to stop the rally. “We have imposed section 144 to ensure that there are no law and order issues,” Rajat Kumar said.
Early this week Revanth and his associates residences were raided. Revanth Reddy lashed out at his political opponents and alleged that he was facing politically motivated persecution.
