Toughest fought battle to end today

Telugu News

Telangana State should have seen this battle in 2014, when it was given statehood. But the Congress, which had given the statehood sacrificing its power, had given up the battle to the Telangana Rastra Samithi. The Congress leaders from Telangana did not show interest to stake claim for the statehood and win the elections. It looked like the Congress leaders have given the State in silver platter to the TRS.

Four years later, the Congress leaders woke up from slumber realising that the credit of the statehood was given to the TRS, intensified the campaign and the Congress rose from nominal 15 seats to close to the power. The TRS, which was around 90 plus when the Assembly was dissolved had seen a steep fall in its numbers with the Congress improving.

Sonia Gandhi’s visit to the State and her speech to the voters had also improved the Congress party’s electoral prospects making it tough for the TRS. While the TRS still has an edge, the Congress is giving sleepless nights to the TRS family.

Surprisingly, Andhra Octopus Lagadapati Rajagopal, had given his survey results in favour of the Congress this time. It looked like he was under the influence of the Congress and Telugu Desam Party leader Chandrababu Naidu to give a pro-alliance result. Though he was expected to give his survey result on December 7, after the voters returned from the polling booths, he announced his survey results a day before the closure of the campaign, which raises doubts over the credibility of the survey
