Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu suggested for new approach to improve transport quality by introducing electric cars. He said most liveable standards should be established with quality of life and quality of public transport system.
The chief minister inaugurated electric charging station set up by KIA motors for e-Cars at secretariat today. The KIA motors donated three hybrid electric cars to the Andhra Pradesh Government. The Chief Minister travelled in the car in secretariat premises along with KIA motors Managing director Kookhyun Shim. The AP Government entered into a future mobility parternership with KIA motors to introduce environment friendly electric cars in all regions of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief Minister said environment friendly transport system should be introduced in the state. He said the state government has been providing power supply at low cost and the solar energy cost also came down to Rs 4 per unit. He said 7,500 garbage collection electric tricycles will be introduced in the state by January. He said the introduction of electric vehicles will help to prevent pollution.
Referring to KIA motors, the Chief Minister said the KIA motors established a record in production of vehicles in Andhra Pradesh and likely to roll out its first car in January. He said the KIA should act as an ambassador for Andhra Pradesh to attract more investments from South Korea.
The Chief Minister said with the prevailing industry friendly atmosphere more and more major companies are coming forward to set up their units in Andhra Pradesh. He said KIA set up unit in Anantapur district, Isuzu and Hero motocorp in Sri city, Appollo tyres, Ashok Lelyland, Amar Raja batteries and other industries set up with a capital of 4,700 cr providing employment opportunities to 6,600 people . He said AP would be developed as automobile hub. He said AP bagged first rank in providing employability skills.
KIA motors MD Kookhyun Shim said that Nero Hybrid, Nero plug in and Nero electric cars were gifted to AP govt. He handed over the keys to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said KIA cars would be produced in 15 variants. He said 3 lakh cars would be produced from Anantapur plant providing employment to 11000 people.
The KIA motors officials gave presentation on the performance of KIA e-cars. KIA EV variant car will travel up to 455 km with single charging.
