What comes from the kitchen is stronger than that comes from the office. The kitchen master or rather the Home Minister in any family is said to be stronger. The word from the kitchen carries more weight and it is proved once again.
When former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal predicted some edge to the Congress-Telugu Desam Party led alliance in the Telangana elections, his wife Janaki Rajagopal predicted a big win for the Telangana Rastra Samithi. She had restricted the Congress-TDP combine to just below 50 seats.
Janaki, a former police PRO, predicted a big victory for the ruling TRS with 55-70 seats, a five-seat short to 10-seats clear majority in the 119 member Assembly. The TRS had won 63 Assembly seats in the 2014 elections and if her prediction goes right, the TRS would have a comfortable majority. Even if her prediction of the lowest 55 seats comes true, then the TRS has the support of MIM for which Janaki Rajagopal had given 7 seats. The support from the MIM would in such a case, keep the TRS government intact.
She gave a reason for the Congress to improve its position adding it to the alliance with Chandrababu Naidu. She says, “CBN must have been the core reason for the pumped in energy & boost into ‘kootami’ and a make-over to congress which was in ‘rest-mode’”. She also found a reason for the negative votes to the Congress stating, “but again feel his public appearances meetings & road shows may have aroused & reminded few forgotten sentiments of telanganites.”
While admitting that she has confidence in her husband’s survey, she had come up with her own assessment “just a hyper enthusiast like any other.”
She further predicted defeat of several popular faces in the Congress, which would be a big surprise for the voters.
Lagadapati’s wife also predicted the results of the other four States. She had given Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to the BJP and Rajasthan to the Congress this time.
