When the real test of democracy is happening, the educated are abstaining themselves. Democrats are concerned that the educated who should exercise their franchise to elect good people are staying away from polling booths. Election Commission declares holiday on the polling day so that every voter can cast his/her vote. However, some are using holiday for their personal work and for holiday tours. Since the polling day holiday is followed by second Saturday and Sunday, the employees are busy enjoying series of holidays.
Concern among Kutami
A large number of people from Seemandhra are living in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Mahakutami was hoping to win majority of seats in the two districts but with urban voters staying away from polling it is now worried over its impact on its prospects. TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu had anticipated this and that’s why during his road shows he tried to create awareness among voters. However, his efforts did not yeild the desired results. The voter turnout in Medak, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy did not cross 50 percent which show the indifference of educated electorate.
When somebody visits Hyderabad during Sankranti, he gets surprised. Roads usually clogged with traffic look deserted. Trains and buses will be overcrowded. This is because people from Seemandhra go to their respective villages. Similarly they went to their villages this time in view of series of holidays. This caused disappointment to Mahakutami candidates who had huge expectations from them. However, they heaved sigh of relirf after learning that some people left for their villages after casting their votes.
