YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy had concluded his 341-day long marathon walk – Praja Sankalpa Yatra – at Ichapuram in Srikakulam district. He walked for 3648 km covering all the 13 districts from November 6, 2017 to January 9, 2019. He had covered 134 Assembly constituencies during his marathon walk, listening to cross sections of the people, receiving representations from different segments on their problems.
Ending his padayatra Jaganmohan Reddy unveiled a pylon and addressed a huge gathering of people, his party workers and leaders at Ichapuram, where he promised greater deal for the farmers. He promised Rs 3,000 crore price stabilisation fund for the farmers to enjoy the minimum support price for their produce. He also promised Rs 5 lakh exgratia for the farmers who commit suicide due to debts but this would not have access to the bankers or financers to adjust it towards the deceased farmers’ loans. He promised to make a law in the first session of the Assembly session after he takes over the government.
He also promised village secretariat with at least 10 employees working and one village volunteer for every 50 families in the village to take the government programmes to the people. He also promised greater deal to the self-help group women, students and Anganwadi and other such workers in the villages. He promised to strengthen the education system by filling all vacant teacher posts and providing basic infrastructure for the schools and colleges.
He took a dig at Chandrababu Naidu for neglecting all sections of the people during the last four-and-a-half years, including the special category status. He said his government would take care of every section of the society and ensure that their welfare is guaranteed. He also accused Chandrababu Naidu of failing to fulfil the TDP’s election promises, including total loan waiver for the farmers and self-help group women, jobs for youth and stipend for unemployed youth and other benefits.
