YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy took a dig at Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his role in the national politics. Speaking at the Ichapuram public meeting marking his closure of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra, Jaganmohan Reddy said that the TDP chief had betrayed the people of the State by suppressing the special category status issue, besides others.
He said Chandrababu Naidu had sailed with the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders for four years without getting the benefits to the State. He said Naidu had even suppressed the movement for special category status and had threatened to send them to jail if anyone raised the special category status demand. He further recalled how Chandrababu Naidu had heckled the special category status demand and tried to fool everyone.
Now, after four-and-a-half years Chandrababu Naidu was claiming to be the champion of the special category status. Even now, Chandrababu Naidu was trying to fool everyone by aligning with the Congress and speaking against the BJP leadership. People watching at Chandrababu Naidu’s opportunistic politics were not trusting him, he said.
Jaganmohan Reddy was aggressive on his attack on Chandrababu Naidu and he had termed the Ichapuram meeting as a trial event of his swearing-in ceremony assuming it that he had already won the elections. The mood of the YSR Congress leaders was that they have also won the elections and the days of Chandrababu Naidu were numbered.
The YSR Congress chief is on high spirits with the success of his historic and marathon walk. He had set the record at 3,648 km for others to succeed him in the years to come. His father late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, had set the record at 1400 km in 2003, which Chandrababu Naidu broke in 2013 with 2800 km marathon walk. This record again was broken by his sister Y S Sharmila in 2012 by walking for a little more than 3,000 km. Now, he had set the highest target of 3,648 km, a tough target for any politician to cross it in the nearest future.
