Telugu Desam Party supremo and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is now invoking the Seemandhra sentiment to work in his favour in this election. He is using the Telangana Rastra Samithi and its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao as the villains to Andhra Pradesh alleging that the TRS is helping YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy. He is also blaming the TRS for trying to have its influence over Andhra Pradesh by defeating the TDP. The defeat of the TDP would help the TRS have complete control over the government and the resources in the State, the TDP chief says.
Interestingly, the TDP leaders have also intensified their attack on the TRS. They have brought in new slogan that the battle now in Andhra Pradesh is between the TDP and the TRS. The TRS is represented by the YSR Congress. The TDP wants to spread this talk intensively across the State raising the Seemandhra sentiments, which were seen at the time of bifurcation. The TDP also plans to use Seemandhra movement leader and AP NGO former chief P Ashok Babu this time to take forward this Seemandhra sentiments. Chandrababu Naidu had already given MLC seat to Ashok Babu keeping his importance in the elections that should work in his favour.
The TDP chief had reportedly asked his party spokespersons to speak more against the TRS chief and less on Jaganmohan Reddy as that would help the TDP win this election. Though Chandrababu Naidu planned to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi more on betrayal issue, he had changed his target to KCR. The TDP chief believes that people take KCR as a potential villain than Narendra Modi and hence the target is now KCR. While the TDP’s campaign of conspiracy by BJP, TRS and YSR Congress continues, the attack this time would be more on KCR than Modi. However, it is to be seen how far this would help TDP retain its power in the elections!
