PVP joins YSRCP, where will Dasari go now?

Industrialist and film maker Potluru Vara Prasad, more popular as PVP, had finally joined the Opposition YSR Congress on Wednesday. He had been trying to jump into active politics from the 2009 elections. He tried once again in 2014 when the State was bifurcated. However, both the times, he could not make it as luck was not in his favour.

In 2009, he tried to join the Praja Rajyam Party of actor Chiranjeevi and contest the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat. His attempts then irked Kesnineni Srinivas, who left the Praja Rajyam Party and joined the TDP just before the 2009 elections. Kesineni had made several allegations against PVP those days and the Vijayawada voters are aware of those charges.

Again when the State was bifurcated and the elections were held in 2014, he tried for his luck for a second time on the Jana Sena ticket. It was strongly said that Jana Sena will have alliance with the TDP and contest the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat. Kesineni Srinivas, who was the strong contender for the TDP ticket in this election, once again went hard on PVP and his politics. However, the alliance did not work for him too as Pawan Kalyan opted out of elections, despite supporting the TDP.

Now, ahead of the 2019 general election, PVP had once again laid his hand on the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat and had joined the YSR Congress. His entry is now posing questions on the future of industrialist and Telugu Desam Party’s one of the founder member, Dasari Jairamesh future. It was said that Jairamesh would be the party candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat when he joined the party. However, now with PVP’s entry, his supporters are doubting on his candidature for the seat.

Sources said that Jairamesh took it for granted when he joined the party and did not give a consent letter to the party chief on being the candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat. The party had called him twice over the phone seeking his consent for the seat. But, on both the times, it is said that he had sought some more time as he wanted to mobilise resources to face the elections. Though the party had not given clearance to PVP, it is debated that Jairamesh would drop out of the election this time, if PVP emerges the party candidate.
