Will people of AP bless these 10 successors ?

Nara Lokesh Paritala Sriram Devineni Avinash

Telugu Desam Party supremo and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had released the first list of candidates for the 126 Assembly constituencies in the State. The list, which was released late on Thursday night had over 80 sitting MLAs and a couple of new faces. Keeping aside the reserved constituencies, the TDP had accommodated 33 BCs in the first list. The list also has 10 successors from the political families. Deputy chief minister K E Krishna Murthy had opted out of contest and his seat is given to his son, K E Shyam. Minister Paritala Suneetha, too dropped out of the race to facilitate the political entry of her son, Paritala Sriram.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s son and Minister for IT Nara Lokesh found his name in the list for Mangalagiri Assembly constituency in Guntur district. The TDP had zeroed in on this seat as the party had lost this in 2014 elections by a small margin of 12 votes. TDP MLA, Gowthu Shyamsunder Sivaji, former minister Kimidi Mrunalini, minister Paritala Suneetha have given up politics for their successors. Sivaji’s daughter Gowthu Sirisha is fielded from Palasa, while Mrunalini’s son Kimidi Nagarjuna is fielded from Cheepurupalli. Suneetha’s son Paritala Sriram is now in the battle at Rapthadu.

Former MP K Yerrannaidu’s daughter and MLC Adireddy Apparao’s daughter-in-law Adireddy Bhavani was fielded from Rajahmundry Urban. Sitting MLA Jaleel Khan’s daughter Shabana Khathoon made a debut from Vijayawada West, while former minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy’s son Bojjala Sudheer Reddy, former minister Gali Muddhukrishnama Naidu’s son, Bhanu Prakash, former minister Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru’s son Avinash found their names in the first list.

Among the prominent defectors from YSR Congress to the TDP, Jaleel Khan succeeded in getting the party ticket for his daughter despite tough opposition. TDP senior leader and the AP Police Housing Corporation chairman, K Nagul Meera, aspired for this seat and held a protest, which was subsided by the party leadership.

Though former minister Devineni Nehru’s son Avinash aspired for the Penamaluru or Vijayawada East, he was finally sent to Gudivada to take on sitting MLA Kodali Nani of the YSR Congress. Avinash’s name was considered for Nuzvid too, but was differed later due to political equations.

Will people of Andhra Pradesh accept the promotion of these political dynasties or not will be known only after the results.
