In politics there are no permanent friends and permanent foes, except for those who head the political parties. The others can find their ways in any party from time to time that suits their political career. This is what is happening in Andhra Pradesh, or for that matter any state, particularly ahead of elections.

A good number of top Congress leaders have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and Telugu Desam Party ahead of the 2014 elections. Some names were not expected to quit Congress and join either the TDP or the BJP. But, it happened and leaders like Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, J C Diwakar Reddy, Mandali Buddha Prasad, have joined the TDP, while leaders like Daggubati Purandheswari, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao joined the BJP.

Now, ahead of the 2019 general elections, some more surprising developments are taking place right in front of the people. Late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga’s son and former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna had joined the TDP. Though Vangaveeti family’s rival Devineni family continues in the TDP. While Radhakrishna is not given any ticket for the impending elections yet, Devineni’s scion Avinash was named for Gudivada Assembly constituency by the TDP leadership. This was most unexpected in the politics, but Vangaveeti and Devineni heirs are in one party.

TDP’s senior leader from Nellore district and former minister Adala Prabhakar Reddy is missing now for the past two days. The TDP had named him for Nellore Rural Assembly constituency and he had launched his election campaign on the first day on Thursday. But, later, he went missing and is not in the reach of any TDP leader. It is highly speculated that Prabhakar Reddy would join the YSR Congress and be its candidate for Nellore Lok Sabha constituency.

There is one more surprise for the TDP these days. Kurnool sitting MP Butta Renuka is not happy with the TDP. She had defected to the TDP from YSR Congress and had pinned her hopes on contesting once again. However, political equations changed with the entry of Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, who was given the Kurnool LS seat. She is now ready to return to the YSR Congress and is making her moves fast to meet Jaganmohan Reddy at the earliest. It is not known whether Jaganmohan Reddy would welcome her return and accommodate her or not.
