Telugu Desam Party supremo and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is banking more on the women and youth in this election. As he is seeking a second term in the residuary state, Chandrababu Naidu is seeking the support of the women tied in Self-Help Groups and the youth who are receiving the unemployment allowance for the last two months.
Chandrababu Naidu had rolled out too many sops to the women in the last two months. He had rolled out a financial benefit of Rs 10,000 to each of the SHG members in three instalments. He had already paid the two instalments and the third one is ready for the first week of April. To avoid the election code, Chandrababu Naidu had issued the three cheques to the women in advance and they are paid now. He also had big plans to supply android mobile phones to the women and the task is on the way. He held series of meetings with the women in the last six months preparing them to support him in the election. Now, he wants them to vote for him and restore TDP in power to continue these developmental works. He is also trying to scare them on voting for Jaganmohan Reddy hinting that the YSR Congress is for violence and criminal politics. There are 98 lakh women in the SHGs in the State who have received these benefits and had met Chandrababu Naidu at one time or the other.
The TDP chief is also now looking at the youth, who have been receiving the unemployment allowance from the past two months. The TDP government is paying Rs 2,000 a month to each of these unemployed youth and they account for 65 lakh in the State. This would also include farmers and drivers who have been paid some money in different forms. The farmers were paid Rs 1,000 as first instalment from the promised Rs 15,000 per year towards agriculture investment. Having paid this money, the TDP chief is asking them to repay him in the form of vote in the election and he promised to continue these welfare programmes.
However, it is to be seen whether the women and youth would work for him in the elections are reject him.
